The Township of Willingboro is seeking motivated, dependable individuals to join our Department of Public Works as a full-time Public Works Laborer.

Candidates with landscaping, grounds maintenance, lawn care, parks maintenance, or commercial landscape experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do

As a member of the Public Works team, you will perform a variety of outdoor maintenance and labor activities that help keep the Township clean, safe, and well maintained.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Landscape maintenance, including grass cutting, weed trimming, edging, hedge trimming, pruning, mulching, and leaf collection
• Maintenance of Township parks, public buildings, rights-of-way, and municipal properties
• Operation of commercial landscaping equipment, including mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other power equipment
• Tree and brush removal, stump removal, and vegetation control
• Refuse and recycling collection
• Cleaning and maintenance of storm drains, catch basins, and manholes
• Digging trenches and ditches using hand tools
• Asphalt patching, raking, and basic roadway maintenance
• Concrete repair and replacement assistance
• Loading and unloading trucks, equipment, and materials
• Snow removal, ice control, and emergency weather response
• General maintenance and housekeeping of Township buildings and facilities
• Other duties as assigned in support of Public Works operations

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid New Jersey Driver's License.
• At least six (6) months of experience performing landscaping, grounds maintenance, construction, municipal maintenance, paving, concrete work, or other physically demanding outdoor labor.
• Experience operating commercial landscaping equipment is highly preferred.
• Experience with tree work, parks maintenance, irrigation, or horticulture is a plus.
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred.

Successful candidates must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements within six (6) months of hire.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding position that requires the ability to:

• Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally lift heavier materials with assistance.
• Walk, stand, bend, kneel, climb, squat, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday.
• Work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Safely perform manual labor while maintaining productivity and following all safety procedures.

Work Schedule

• Full-time (40 hours per week)
• Saturday recycling assignments as part of the regular work schedule
• Mandatory overtime during emergencies and snow removal operations
• Occasional evening, weekend, or holiday work as operational needs require

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Pre-employment physical examination
• Drug and alcohol screening
• Background review, as applicable

Compensation & Benefits

• $43,337 - $50,000
