Statement from Willingboro Mayor Kaya T. McIntosh Regarding the Uncollected Trash
I am aware of the ongoing challenges with our trash contractor, Republic Services, and I want to sincerely apologize to our residents for any inconvenience, anxiety, distress, and turmoil caused by this situation. Unfortunately, a staffing issue at Republic Services has dramatically impacted Willingboro and our neighboring communities.
Yesterday, Republic initiated its special response team, which deployed four trucks to address trash that went uncollected since last Thursday. Republic has committed to working diligently to catch up with uncollected trash by this Saturday. While they onboard new team members, we may still experience delays; Republic has ensured us the delay will be no longer than one day. Please trust we have been working nonstop with Republic to find a quick and effective solution to this situation.
While Republic Services works to collect the trash around the Township, we ask that residents leave their uncollected trash at their curbs. The Department of Public Works has opened the yard at 25 Industrial Drive, Willingboro, NJ 08010, for residents interested in dropping off residential waste only on Wednesday 7:30 AM – 4 PM and Thursday – Saturday 7:30 AM – 2:30 PM.
Residents can remain updated as the situation evolves by monitoring the Willingboro Township Facebook page and the Township website or by calling 609-589-7848.
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience but ask for your continued patience as this situation is remedied.
