FIRE DEPARTMENT SERVICES
The Willingboro Fire Department is a combination department, which means it is staffed by both full-time and volunteer firefighters and support personnel. The department is headed by a full-time Chief of Department who is assisted by one full-time Deputy Fire Chief, three full-time Captains, and three full-time Lieutenants. In addition to the full-time Captains and Lieutenants, there are thirteen full-time firefighters which are assigned to one of the three platoons that work 24 hour shifts.
The department has approximately fifteen volunteer/duty crew firefighters that provide additional coverage. The department also has a Fire Police Unit which is staffed by volunteer personnel. These personnel respond to incidents and assist the police department with crowd and traffic control.
The department responds to over 1,100 incidents per year. They respond to incidents such as house and building fires, vehicle fires, fire and carbon monoxide alarm activations, downed wires, and traffic accidents. The department’s firefighters also respond to neighboring towns to assist at large incidents.
The firefighters respond from Fire Headquarters which is located at Charleston Road and JFK Way. All of the department’s personnel and administrative offices are stationed at this building. The station houses three command vehicles, three engines, one tower ladder, one rescue vehicle, one brush unit, one fire police unit, one utility pickup truck, one support SUV, one support van, one fire safety house trailer, and one fire prevention trailer.
