Weekly Themes and Program Experience
Each week of camp is guided by a unique theme that shapes activities, instruction, and the overall camper experience. These themes provide structure, variety, and excitement, ensuring that no two weeks feel the same while maintaining a consistent, high-quality program.
Our themed approach allows campers to explore new ideas, develop skills, and engage in creative, hands-on experiences that extend beyond traditional day camp activities.
How Weekly Themes Work
Weekly themes are thoughtfully integrated into all aspects of the camp day, including:
- Instructional Activities
Structured sessions designed to build skills in areas such as sports, arts, STEM, and leadership, aligned with each week’s theme. - Creative Projects
Hands-on activities that encourage imagination, teamwork, and self-expression. - Group Games and Challenges
Theme-based games and competitions that promote collaboration, problem-solving, and fun. - Special Events and Experiences
Highlight moments each week that bring the theme to life in a larger, more interactive way.
This approach creates a cohesive experience where campers are not just participating in activities, but fully immersed in each week’s focus.
Purposeful Programming
Weekly themes are designed with intention. Each theme supports key areas of development, including:
- Social interaction and teamwork
- Confidence building and leadership
- Physical activity and wellness
- Creativity and critical thinking
By aligning our daily schedule with weekly themes, we create a balanced environment that is engaging, structured, and developmentally beneficial.
What to Expect
Campers can expect a consistent daily schedule with a new layer of excitement introduced each week through themed activities and programming. This balance provides both routine and variety, helping campers feel comfortable while staying engaged.
Families will receive weekly overviews outlining the theme, featured activities, and any special events or highlights to look forward to.
Trips and Off-Site Experiences
Trips are an important part of the camp experience, providing campers with opportunities to explore new environments, build social connections, and engage in fun, memorable activities outside of their primary camp location.
All trips are planned and scheduled to complement weekly themes and overall program goals, while maintaining a safe and well-supervised environment.
Discovery Day Camp Trips
Campers enrolled in the Discovery Day Camp will participate in one trip per week, offering a balanced introduction to off-site experiences.
- Trips will begin during the second week of camp
- A total of five trips will be scheduled throughout the summer
- The final trip will take place two weeks prior to the last day of camp
This structure ensures that younger campers are gradually introduced to trips while maintaining consistency in their weekly routine.
Boro Explorers Trips
The Boro Explorers program offers a more immersive travel experience designed for older campers, with a greater frequency of off-site activities.
- Campers will participate in two half-day trips and one full-day trip each week
- Trips will begin during the second week of camp
- The program will conclude trips the week prior to the final week of camp
This approach provides a dynamic and engaging experience while maintaining a balance between travel and in-camp programming.
Final Trip Experience
The Boro Explorers program will conclude its summer experience with a signature trip aboard the Spirit of Philadelphia.
Campers will enjoy a lunch cruise along the Delaware River, featuring music, dining, and scenic views of the waterfront. As part of this experience, campers are encouraged to dress in business casual attire, adding a unique and memorable touch to the occasion.
This culminating event is designed to celebrate the summer, create lasting memories, and provide campers with a fun and elevated experience to close out the program.
