Criteria for Township Council Proclamations and Resolutions

The Willingboro Township Council proudly recognizes its residents' achievements, contributions, and milestones. Eligible residents must adhere to the criteria below:

Requests for proclamation must be submitted 10 days before the scheduled Township Council Meeting, and resolutions must be submitted 7 days before the scheduled Township Council meeting. Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of the month, with the exception of July and August, unless otherwise noted. 

Proclamations

Proclamations are issued for the following reasons:

  1. Joyous Occasions:
    • Significant life milestones, such as milestone birthdays (90 years or older) or retirements after significant public or community service.
    • Achievements of excellence, such as academic, athletic, or professional accolades that bring pride to the township.
  2. Community Contributions:
    • Recognition of a resident or group for notable civic engagement or volunteerism that positively impacts the Willingboro community.
    • Honoring local organizations or businesses for major anniversaries or contributions to the township.
  3. Special Observances:
    • Observance of nationally or locally recognized awareness months, days, or weeks that hold significance to the community or individual residents.

Resolutions

Resolutions are issued posthumously to celebrate the legacy and impact of deceased residents who made significant contributions to Willingboro.

  1. Eligibility Criteria:
    • The individual must have resided in Willingboro for a substantial period.
    • Demonstrated impactful contributions to the township through community service, professional achievements, or notable acts of kindness or leadership.
  2. Resolution Process:
    • The resolution may be requested by family members, friends, or community members with sufficient supporting information.
    • Resolutions highlight the individual's contributions, reflecting their lasting legacy within the township.

Nomination Process

  1. Eligibility for Submission:
    • Nominations may be submitted by residents, community groups, or organizations.
  2. Required Documentation:
    • A brief written description of the individual or group’s achievements or contributions.
    • Relevant supporting documents, such as articles, letters, or certificates.
  3. How to Submit:
    • Submit nominations via our online form.

Note: Submission of a nomination does not guarantee issuance of a proclamation or resolution. All requests are subject to review.
